There’s something about watching your house transform in front of your own eyes.. Whether it’s something small… Like adjusting some home décor. Or something super major.. Like adding floating shelves, or in this case changing our kitchen light fixture!! Our Reed Lane home is so nice, and it’s perfect for our tiny growing family. But, when we purchased this house.. This wasn’t the house we planned on living in for the rest of our lives. And it still isn’t.. We have big goals ahead of us. We decided it was going to be our transition home. Well, when we figured out we were pregnant.. Nesting became a high priority. So, lots of small projects and even some major projects. Just to make the house a little more homey.. And possibly add value to it? lol. Yes, that is of importance to me.. I mean, who wouldn’t want to make more money off of their home?

But I digress.. Last week our favorite home improvement store was having it’s famous 11% rebate.. MENARDS!! Yes, that’s our go-to for anything home related. Good deals, great finds. If you have one near you.. Definitely check it out! Anyway, so we decided to pick up some things and we HAPPENED to have stumbled upon this BEAUTIFUL light fixture. And it’s been a thought to change our light fixture. But, I wasn’t going to force it by any means. So we, I mean Daniel stumbled upon this light fixture that I just immediately fell in love with. Something in my gut was like, “You have to get this!!” Totally blindsided. No measurements, no plan, just my imagination. And of course I doubted myself a little. And was nervous about making this purchase. But, we did it anyway. Cause if worse comes to worse… You can always return it!

We got it home… And guys I loved it!!! I couldn’t have been more happy about the fact that we purchased it. And I was so excited to get it up! But, of course.. Daniel works a full time job.. So, it had to be put on hold for a few days before we could actually get to it. Cause, let’s be real.. I can paint and distress furniture ALL DAY. But please, for the love of all humanity.. Don’t ask me to do anything like electrical work, or woodwork, or.. Well, you get the point! (Thank God for a husband who is a handy man!) That’s quite the blessing guys! He does all of the laborious projects in our home! Especially now that I’m pregnant.

As much as I appreciate all the hard work Daniel puts in to my ideas sometimes. It is actually entertaining sometimes to watch him do this stuff. I mean, I can watch him do this all day. I might even learn something! Or in some.. Very unfortunate cases, it can be frustrating and it makes you want to pull your hair out. Just being honest! Where you or in this case he sits there for ten minutes trying to figure out how the heck to get the wiring down pat. But, it doesn’t go exactly as smooth as you think.. And then you get frustrated and then take it out on the closest person to you.. Hey, like I said. I’m just being honest. And sometimes it’s the hard truth that comes along with doing home projects yourself. But, it wouldn’t be a DIY project without running into trouble every once in a while! And it’s obviously completely worth it when it is all said and done!

Despite the fact that we got a beautiful and completely unexpected light fixture up in our kitchen. I actually learned a lesson from it all. Which, I definitely didn’t expect… It’s okay to take chances! Especially if it comes to something you love doing! Like in this case, interior design. It’s okay to not be a hundred percent sometimes. You might end up being so ecstatic you took a chance. Just like how I felt after I saw what this light looked like hanging in my kitchen! And now.. When I look at it. My heart swells knowing I took a chance and ended up loving everything about it!!

What is something you took a chance on when it came to your house? Were you a 100% sure about your decision, or did you just take a breath and jump in head first? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Also, let me know what y’all think about this gorgeous piece! I would love to hear y’alls opinions!

XOXO,   Whitney
