Do you ever have the strongest urge to brag about something or someone.. And then of course you hold back wondering if it’s worth bragging about or if anyone is going to care? Almost like you feel bad for bragging about something? Yeah, that’s me right now. The only difference is.. Is that I’m actually going to do it! (Sorry, not sorry!)

(I apologize ahead of time if you have no idea what these terms mean.. I will try to explain things the best way possible!)

On December 3, 2017.. Daniel, my husband officially put on a new rank in the Air National Guard! He put on a new stripe and became a Tech Sergeant. In the ANG it is not the MOST common thing to have new ranks left and right. Considering there are only so many spots for each rank, and how many FT spots there are… (It gets complicated). Anyway, because there are so few new rankings, they usually save the promotion ceremony during the drill weekends that occur once a month. Anyone who has been promoted will take part in a quick little deal just recognizing them as their new rank. And it was perfect cause this drill weekend there happened to be a family day where all of the personnel’s family came and they had fun family activities set up on the base. Of course it being the Christmas season.. It was Christmas themed! So, I got to hang out on base for the day and partake in my husband’s little ceremony. And I was so excited to be a part of it!! If that doesn’t make you feel like a Air Force wife, I don’t know what will. (Pretty much all I did was put his new rank on his arm, and punch his arm.. (Yes, I punched his arm.. Air Force tradition.))

He’s been working his tail off to put this new stripe on. He attended three trainings that were just about everywhere and anywhere. Along with a volunteered two week deployment to Germany. So, it’s been a busy year, for him. And a lonely year, for me.. (Military life).

He’s stayed late at the office. He goes in early sometimes. He brings home his computer in case if any deployment issues come up. He takes on more than one person should at work. Working hard enough for maybe three people it seems like. No joke. He runs in circles, all the time. You name it, he’s probably done it. His hardwork never goes unseen. His commanders, his peers and of course me.. We all recognize the hardwork he puts into what he does for the Air National Guard. Serious props to someone who can work like that!

Despite the joy of getting to punch him in the arm.. I was very honored to be apart of his special day! If you don’t know my husband on a personal level.. To say the least, he’s one of the hardest working men I know and has heart for everyone. He’s a different breed of man. Haha!

I am overwhelmed with gratitude and happiness and honor to call this man my husband. Not just because of how many stripes he’s got on his arm. But, because of the character he has. Because of his compassion, his incredible smarts! Okay, I’ll stop babbling. But I definitely married out of my league!

Congratulations to my incredible husband, Daniel! I am so proud of him and all his hard work. And I am beyond blessed to call him my husband and to share this journey with him.

For those of you who know Daniel, please take a moment to say congrats! Or if you really wanna tell him congrats.. You can email us at graceandshiplapblog@gmail.com or catch us on Facebook or Instagram.

(I promise I will relay the message to him!)
