Declared by the President of the United States, November has been declared as Military Family Appreciation Month.
You’re probably wondering why I am even bringing this up? Well, for those of you who aren’t aware. Britny and I are wives to men who have served and are currently serving in our military. We’ve been through the months of deployment duty. We’ve been through their trainings. We’ve seen them pack their bags and we’ve seen them drop their bags at the front door with a sigh of relief. We’ve dealt with the loneliness, the distance.. And everything in-between when it comes to living a military lifestyle. We’ve seen it, lived it and have done it. My intention is NOT AT ALL to brag about us or our husbands and their duty to our country. Which our men deserve to be bragged on. Because this is about them too!
But because this a month of appreciation to our veterans, and their families. I wanna do this for you. For the moms of their children serving over seas. For the wives whose husbands just left for a two month training. For the siblings who have seen them leave for basic training, and even graduate from basic. For the daughters who watched their parent come and go on so many deployments. And that is only the beginning. I could go on forever explaining those families who live this life. And I know there are so many families and family members who live this way/
I really wanted to do this for our veterans. You deserve more than this country could EVER give you. And I give you the biggest “thank you” and all the gratitude I can give you, from the bottom of my heart. Without you, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Still the most free country in the world. And I thank God for that everyday. Sacrificing your time, leaving your family behind to defend our freedoms and those who live in this country!
Whether you are the service man or woman, or a family member who proudly calls them theirs, or anything in between. On behalf of Grace and Shiplap, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are beyond blessed and beyond grateful for everything and everyone involved in our military. We want to thank you for your service. We know that this lifestyle isn’t the easiest one. We know what you go through on a regular basis. And we know it isn’t the easiest thing to deal with. A little recognition to you guys from our little blog is the least we can do for you.
We wanted to make sure that the gratefulness and recognition goes where it is deserved. And it belongs to you! It belongs to you, because of your choice to make one sacrifice after the other, because of your duty to serve over seas, and because of your days spent without your service member. Because of your selflessness to protect those who don’t even know you, and for your spouse who runs the fort while you’re away on duty.
Thank you. Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts. We are so thankful for you and your family. And we appreciate everything you do for us, and our country. God bless you, your family. And God bless America!
XOXO, Whitney and Britny
